Focusing on how to best prepare students for the future with so many options in tools and methods can be overwhelming. Learn about methods and tools to provide more personalized learning experiences for students and help them to develop essential SEL skills for the future. During the session we will talk about methods that can be used in any grade level or content area, some tools to facilitate those methods and then dive into some fun and emerging trends and technologies that we need to understand more.
I will give some ideas about how to teach students about emerging technologies like AI, AR and VR to better prepare them for the future of learning and work. Using these different methods and digital tools, educators can provide more opportunities for students to be independent in learning, to have activities that meet their needs and provide students with choices in how to show what they have learned and can do, and that accommodate any differences in the learner's needs and learning styles.
Educators need to understand many different digital tools and how each can be used to provide students with opportunities to practice and create with the content, for enrichment, and most importantly for authentic opportunities which promote student choice and ownership in learning. In using methods such as project-based learning or teaching in online environments through blended or flipped learning styles, technology can be leveraged to give students the opportunity to learn at a time and in a place that is convenient for them. These experiences give them more responsibility, they become more independent and leads to a more student-centered and student-driven classroom. Learn how to connect some of the tools together, to store a variety of activities within one learning space. We will explore methods first and then tools! We will look at Buncee, FLipgrid, Nearpod and Spaces and lots of strategies!
